Terms of Use

These Terms of Use are the agreement between you and OnlyIf for the OnlyIf app and onlyif.app. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle information. Together, they are the terms. By creating an account or continuing to use OnlyIf, you agree to them.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18. OnlyIf is not available to anyone younger. You may not use OnlyIf if we have suspended or closed your account.

You are responsible for making sure your use is legal where you are. OnlyIf is offered from the United States and is intended for people in the United States.

The service

OnlyIf lets you privately describe what you are looking for. We look for another person who independently described something compatible. There is no public directory, no swipe deck, and no map of people nearby. A connection is shown only when the match is mutual and both people choose to reveal.

We do not guarantee a match, that a match is accurate, or that another member is who they appear to be. Confirming that you are 18 is not an identity verification or a background check. Do not treat a connection as proof that someone is safe.

Your account

You sign in with a passkey. Keep control of your devices and your recovery code. You are responsible for activity under your account.

Choose a username that does not identify you. Do not create an account for someone else, share your account, or open another account to avoid a suspension.

Your content

You keep ownership of the text, messages, and media you submit. You give OnlyIf a limited license to host, store, and process that content only to operate, secure, and moderate the service. That includes automated interpretation of OnlyIfs for matching and safety.

The license ends when the content is deleted, except for the safety records described in the Privacy Policy and copies that remain until a backup expires. Do not submit content you do not have the right to share.

Prohibited conduct

You may not use OnlyIf to involve anyone under 18, to sexualize a minor, or to share child sexual abuse material. You may not impersonate someone, harass them, threaten them, stalk them, or discriminate against them.

You may not share a person’s intimate image or private information without their consent. You may not solicit prostitution, escorting, or other paid sexual services, or traffic or exploit anyone.

You may not scam someone, ask them for money, or solicit financial information. You may not send spam or commercial solicitation, scrape the service, try to reach another member’s private information, or evade a block or suspension.

We may remove content and suspend or close an account when we believe these rules were broken. Where the law requires it, including for suspected child sexual abuse material, we may preserve information and report it.

Safety

You can block a person and report a connection. Reports can describe harassment, threats or violence, sexual misconduct, hate or discrimination, impersonation or a scam, an underage concern, or something else. A report closes that connection and blocks future matching.

If you decide to meet someone, meet in public, tell a person you trust where you are going, and do not send money or financial information. You can withdraw your interest in a connection. Do not share another person’s identity or OnlyIf without their permission.

These tools reduce risk. They do not make every member safe.

Moderation

We use automated checks on OnlyIfs and private answers, and we review reports. We can refuse, remove, or limit content and accounts. We do not promise to monitor every message.

Intellectual property and copyright

The OnlyIf name, heart mark, and product are ours. You may not copy the service or use our branding without permission.

If you believe content on OnlyIf infringes your copyright, email privacy@onlyif.app. Include a description of the work, where it appears, your contact information, and a statement that you believe the use is not authorized. We will review valid notices.

Paid features

OnlyIf does not currently charge a fee. If we offer a paid feature, we will show the price, the billing period, whether it renews, and how to cancel before you pay. Purchases made through Apple or Google follow their store rules.

Disclaimers

OnlyIf is provided as available. Matching reflects what members write. It is not advice, not a background check, and not a promise about another person.

To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, OnlyIf is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for a claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars or the amount you paid us for OnlyIf in the twelve months before the claim.

These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including liability that cannot be waived.

Ending access

You can stop using OnlyIf and delete your account in the app. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or creates a safety risk. If we close an account for safety, we may keep anonymized safety records as the Privacy Policy describes.

Disputes

California law governs these terms, excluding conflict-of-law rules. State and federal courts in California have exclusive jurisdiction, except that you may bring an individual claim in small-claims court.

These terms do not require arbitration. Email privacy@onlyif.app first and give us a reasonable chance to resolve the problem.

Other terms

If a provision cannot be enforced, the rest of these terms still apply. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the service. Waiting to enforce a provision is not a waiver.

If we change these terms in a material way, we will update the date on this page and surface the change in the app when we can. Continued use means the new terms apply. If you do not agree, delete your account.
